'Mattereality' consists of two ten minute tracks which explore the sonic characteristics and compositional potential of various building materials. In this way, the work attempts to explore the relationship between the materials present within a space and the resultant sonic environment produced. In particular, the various acoustical and atmospheric qualities pertaining to the materials were used to form the structure for the two tracks.

These aspects along with the associative, timbral and physical qualities specific to the materials were combined and manipulated to create series of sonic environments throughout the duration of the work. In this way, the work attempts to sonically 'describe' these characteristics in order to convey a sense of the recorded object's shape, size and texture through associative listening.
